Smithtown, Long Island Trip Sept. 2008
Sunday, October 5th, 2008Beach Trip
On the morning of September 13,2008 Troop 162 went to Short Beach in Smithtown,Long Island. The troop holds this trip on the weekend of the full moon. The first thing they did was set up their equipment and tents. After they set up camp, the boys were able to go to the beach and swim. The water was cold but we had fun. Lunch was bagged lunch. After lunch we went on the nature hike around the beach. That afternoon we went fishing in the bay. Not much was biting. After we finished patrol cooking, we sat down and enjoyed the meals of kilbosa, sausage and peppers, steaks, and shrimp kabobs. After it got dark, we started our traditional campfire. The scouts sang songs and played word games. As the campfire was going on, it started to rain. We went under a tarp for shelter while watching the fire. We all went to bed when we got good and tired.
Sunday morning we woke up to rain, but we didn’t let it get us down. We enjoyed breakfasts of cereal and pancakes depending on your patrol. After breakfast we were able to do what ever activity we chose. After lunch we packed up and came back to a sunny Bronx. Everyone had a great time.
